In terms of subjects, painting portraits is one of the most challenging and rewarding. This 2-day workshop will introduce you drawing portraits from various composition and to painting portrait on acrylic. Some experience is recommended but not required. After this 8-hour workshop, you will gain an understanding of composition, value and colors while learning how to execute a portrait from beginning to end. To take advantage of the entire portrait curriculum, we recommend attending both workshops in the same weekend.
DAY 1: DRAWING THE PORTRAIT. We will work off several reference photos. First, we will discuss composition, delve into value and you will practice several sketches and drawings before transferring the drawing into a panel canvas. After that, we will paint a black and white portrait that focuses on value before we move into colors, which will be on Day 2.
Day 2. DAY 2: PAINTING THE PORTRAIT. Before painting the portrait in color, we will discuss color theory. After that, a demonstration of diverse color palette for different skin tones. You will explore color mixing and watch the master artist execute the portrait from start to finish. After this workshop, you'll leave with confidence knowing you can paint portrait from beginning to end.
