Have you always wanted to paint a self-portrait and don't know where to start and how to do it?
Or, you know how to draw, but haven't figured how to begin the painting process?
Or, you just want to create a portrait for a loved one, but need some inspiration and extra guidance?
In terms of subjects, painting portraits is one of the most challenging and rewarding. This 2-day workshop will introduce you to the medium of acrylic painting on portrait. Some experience is recommended but not required. After this 8-hour workshop, you will gain an understanding of composition, value and colors while learning how to execute a portrait from beginning to end. To take advantage of the entire portrait curriculum, we recommend attending both workshops in the same weekend.
DAY 1: DRAWING THE PORTRAIT. After selecting a good reference photo to work on, we will discuss composition, delve into value and why it is important to create representational art. After that, we will paint a black and white portrait that focuses on value before we move into colors, which will be on Day 2.
Day 2. DAY 2: PAINTING THE PORTRAIT. Before painting the portrait in color, we will discuss color theory. After that, a demonstration of diverse color palette for different skin tones. You will explore color mixing and watch the master artist execute the portrait from start to finish. After this workshop, you'll leave with confidence knowing you can paint portrait from beginning to end.
